Lover. The name of this Australian label says it all, really. When I look at their clothes my heart beats all-a-flutter, a balloon swells soft and dreamy in my fragile chest and my lips exhale a sigh of longing for the prettiest dresses there ever were. You know that when a designer's list of references reads like a scrapbook of all of your favourite things (the duo mention "Tess of the D'Urbervilles", "Picnic at Hanging Rock" and "A Bout de Soufle" amongst many others) that your crush is doomed before you even see the clothes.
Ah yes, the clothes. This is daydream dressing, clothes made to wear as you run through hazy meadows or curl up on your windowsill with a favourite book to chew strawberry laces (or at least clothes to make you feel this way as you tear down your snowy, grimy street instead). Feminine without being fussy, the sweet dresses and easy separates remind me of the breeziness of Australian summer, of bittersweet memories of old films, of melancholy girls in the big city. Like the character in your favourite book, the "Lover" girl is everything you want to be, and my new fashion crush for sure....
